A Message from Board President and Chief Executive Officer, Todd Sieja
Western Eagle Foundation has a soft heart for all children, especially those in need of food. Food insecurity among children is usually tracked by the number of children enrolled in the free or reduced-price school meals program. On census day in the 2021 school year, 65% of Riverside County (Kids Data) students were eligible to receive free or reduced-price school meals.
Written by Andrea Agnew/Family Health: … "Because childhood represents such a critical period in human development, the long-term impact of hunger on children can be extremely detrimental. Good nutrition has a direct link to proper physical growth and development for kids. Children who experience chronic, unsatisfied hunger are at risk of not getting the appropriate intake of necessary vitamins and minerals to ensure reaching developmental milestones”.

Our reason WHY: Western Eagle Foundation has for thirty years worked hard to find food for children and families in need. We offer a food box of staples, with dairy, breads and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Our staff will help mothers, dads, foster youth, teen parents and homeless find the food they need for themselves and their children at the Western Eagle store, and we believe in allowing no one to leave hungry.
HOW WE SERVE

Food Boxes for All! Todd Sieja, CEO, buys directly from food brokers the food needed to fill the weekly food boxes of “staples”, such as canned vegetables and fruits, cereals, soups, proteins (tuna and peanut butter), dry noodles, rice and beans, crackers, dinner kits and tomato sauce. Additionally donated dairy, breads, fresh fruit, and vegetables are available to customize the food box for your family. There is no income requirement to selecting a food box and each family or agency can pick up as many food boxes a day as they need for their families or community members. Check out the Western Eagle Foundation page on social media, where a picture of the latest food box offerings are posted every morning!
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Western Eagle Foundation is happy to highlight DOLORES, one of our staff members that works in the back of the store, pricing, sorting, and managing our volunteers. She has been a happy part of our team for 20 years and handles all the volunteer groups and those serving community service.

Dolores enjoys working with the volunteers, keeps them busy and knows what jobs need to be always done on the store floor. Thank you, Dolores, for your service.

VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS

Western Eagle Foundation partners with TVUSD as part of TVUSD Graduation Requirement in which community service hours must be fulfilled at a NON-PROFIT AGENCY. Students must serve community service to graduate. A commitment to community service is viewed favorably in the college application process and can provide work experience, which could lead to employment. Please use this requirement as an opportunity to learn about yourself and your interests. A total of 40 community service hours are required for graduation.

SUPPORTER SPOTLIGHT
Western Eagle Foundation welcomes in-kind donations of foods and goods that help us serve families better.

Judy and Larry Haines conduct “annual food drives” every year in local communities of Temecula Valley.

We thank them for their long-term support!

COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

City of Temecula's “Mary Phillips Senior Center” offers many services for seniors and has staff members available to direct your call and provide support where needed. Their team of caring staff also makes weekly calls to check on local seniors. Recently seniors were driven by bus by City of Temecula staff to the Western Eagle Store and spent their food box vouchers picking up staples, breads, fresh fruit and vegetables.
