A Message from Board President, Todd Sieja
Did you know today, there are more than 800,000 low-income families living in Riverside County, with 50% of them needing food to feed their babies, children, families, and grandparents? The poverty rate in the Inland Empire is higher than it is in the USA and California. More than 50% of households served by Western Eagle Foundation are unemployed or employed, yet face challenges of under-employment, stagnant wages, and rising costs of living. Additionally due to the pandemic food insecurity increased among minorities, those living in rural areas, seniors having to choose between food or medical care, and children not being able to access the free lunch program due to school closures.

“Western Eagle Foundation was founded by my dad, Robert Sieja more than 30 years ago. After finishing college, I joined him in running the business and today what matters most is carrying out the legacy of being a caring community partner that feeds those in need. Yes, Western Eagle Foundation is more than a food bank offering food boxes to supplement family meals. Yes, we strive to offer the lowest priced canned goods, staples and non-perishable foods to community members. We offer household goods and furniture at low discounted prices, so if you need a helping hand feeding your family or furnishings to make your home warm and cozy, our answer is always YES! Welcome to Western Eagle Foundation and I look forward to seeing you.”
HOW WE SERVE

Western Eagle Foundation has several programs and works with multiple agencies to help feed community members in both cities and hard to reach outlying areas in Riverside County.
  • Food & Home Store- 44,000 sq. ft warehouse with heavily discounted food and goods donated/purchased by Western Eagle Foundation from farms, grocery superstores and retail stores. Open to public, seven days a week to increase accessibility to food insecure populations.
  • Food Boxes - On average more than 350 families fill a food box that includes healthy fresh fruits and vegetables, proteins, dairy, bread, and non-perishable staples, valued at more than $95.00. There are no limits to how many food boxes may be purchased daily or weekly by shoppers.
  • Community Outreach - Western Eagle Foundation provides bulk food (approximately 1.9 million pounds a year) that is picked up every Thursday from more than 20 churches/nonprofit agencies and delivered to outlying communities to food insecure populations (serving 117,800 families annually).
  • On-The-Job Training for At-Risk Communities - Western Eagle Foundation offers on the job training in sorting, shelving, packing, shipping and receiving for volunteers from nonprofit agencies, faith-based organizations, recovery programs, special education classes school districts, high school work-study programs, homeless/foster family agencies and adult special needs organizations.
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Steve is known as an all-around good guy and is the Operations Manager in charge of shipping and receiving, managing the many volunteer teams completing tasks such as sorting and boxing food, shelving, display, stocking and maintenance of the warehouse.

Quiet, with a smile for everyone and patience to understand your story, believing in giving a second chance, he has the most dedicated crew of volunteers that work hard to fill the needs of Western Eagle Foundation & Food & Home Store, and in turn improve their own lives.

VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHTS
We could not manage all the food bank and store operations without all of our Volunteers! Western Eagle Foundation believes in giving everyone a chance and offers on the job training opportunities to volunteers recovering from addictions, intellectually disabled and/or enrolled in local school district special education and work-study programs. Today we highlight the men and women from U-Turn For Christ, who volunteer for Western Eagle Foundation, gaining skills in shelving, stocking, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, general merchandising, cleaning, maintenance and working at the front desk.
SUPPORTER SPOTLIGHT
Western Eagle Foundation expresses gratitude to Riverside County Third District Supervisor and his staff for awarding us a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act fund that will be used to distribute food box vouchers to more than 650 families in Temecula, Murrieta, Hemet and San Jacinto.
COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

Western Eagle Foundation collaborates with many other nonprofit agencies and faith-based organizations to help identify food insecure community members and transport food to their neighborhoods and/or distribute food box vouchers.
