September 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day! At Western Eagle Foundation’s Discount Food and Home Goods Store we have what you need to celebrate and save! Many historians credit baker Raffaele Esposito from the Naples region of Italy for first creating cheese pizza. Others believe its history goes back to ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. Regardless of where it comes from, we love it! To help you celebrate at home, we found a great recipe. Preppy Kitchen has a very easy, homemade cheese pizza recipe that we know you will love, and the whole family can help!
Here is what you will need:
Ingredients
1 prepared pizza dough (click here for the recipe)
⅓ cup pizza sauce (80mL)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (115g)
¼ cup grated parmesan cheese (20g)
Instructions
Position an oven rack in the lower third and preheat the oven to 475F.
On a lightly floured surface, stretch the dough into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a non-stick baking sheet.
Spread the pizza sauce onto the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge. Sprinkle with cheeses.
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until the crust is browned and the cheese is bubbling and beginning to brown. Let cool for a few minutes before cutting.
